The resort's history
The origins of the resort go back to the first half of the 19th century when Francesco Righetti started a farmhouse in the plains of Scarlino, in the heart of Tuscany Maremma.
Subsequently his heirs have acquired new land to grow new olive groves in addition to the older ones that had been there for centuries.
The Scarlinese olive is currently the dominant variety grown in Col di Sasso Resort. This variety is specific to this particular area in the heart of Tuscany Maremma, and it has been saved and protected by Carlo Righetti, according to the principles of conservation of arboreal species.
From this ancient variety the Tuscan company continues to produce a greatly appreciated oil.
The current owner, Luisa Righetti, is working with the Institute of Arboreal Species of Pisa under the direction of Prof. Guerriero to launch a plan to recover and replant the variety, while the historical buildings of the estate have been converted into 3 charming resorts.
